Your sun tan lotion is bought, the case has been dragged down from the loft, and the dog has been booked into the kennels, all you need to do now is find yourself one of those cheap holiday deals you always seem to hear other people going on about. So where do you start? You could sit for hours in a travel agent while she scrolls through pages and pages of holidays that still ‘aren’t quite cheap enough’, you could do it from the comfort of your armchair, while a call centre advisor does all the ground work for you, plus there’s the bonus of being able to keep an eye on Eastenders at the same time, or you can log onto the internet and discover that the world really could be your oyster.
You are going to have to put a bit of work into this though, however, the more time you spend now, hopefully, the less money you’ll spend in the long run.
Avoiding the school holidays is a good start, you can view the annual school timetables on the governments education website, it might be worth checking this before you put your annual leave in at work.
Make sure you have a pen and piece of paper handy; you will find yourself very easily forgetting which deal was on which site and kicking yourself if you never find it again!
Jot down plenty of notes so you can compare the exact same holidays against each other, write down flight times, board basis, room choice etc, to make sure they are the same. You may think you’ve bagged a bargain when you see the same holiday on one site for only £395 and another for £595, then you realise you are looking at self catering compared to all inclusive and a junior suite compared to a one bed apartment, so concentrate!
The more flexible you can be the better, for example being able to travel from any airport in your region, departing over a period of four or five days, being open to suggestion about destination and board basis will return many more results than flying only from your local airport on one specific date.
Choosing flights in the middle of the night will also save you money, it might not be much fun taking off or landing at 4am, but it could save you a lot of money in the long run.
Look carefully to see what ‘extras’ are included, if it’s a short flight, removing the in flight meals will save you a few pounds.
Don’t select the extra luggage allowance, you will be charged for this, stick with what is included and make sure you travel light, remember, you can still be charged at the airport for excess luggage and this can be very costly.
Charity donations, some tour operators automatically add a couple of pound on for a world care charity; this can easily be removed before booking.
Make sure transfers are included and are free, if they are, that’s great, if not it may be worth looking on a separate site for private transfers, or even just hopping in a taxi when you get there, this is usually the best idea if you accommodation is not too far from the airport.
Don’t necessarily go for a package holiday, look at budget airlines sites, then accommodation sites separately, this often works out much cheaper, just remember to think about your transfers, and make sure the dates and times of your flight match the dates of your accommodation exactly.
If you pay by credit card there will nearly always be a fee, this is normally a percentage of the overall cost, so depending on the price you manage to get, this could save you quite a bit, and there is not usually a charge for using a debit card.,br> Last but by no means least; check out the exchange rate before you make your final decision, what seems like a really good self catering holiday could end up being expensive if it’s going to be costly to eat out, it will be false economy if you spend a fortune while you are there.
Now you have all the tips, it’s up to you to find those cheap holiday deals that could see you jetting off to the sun, sea and sand within a matter of days.

What can I say? Where’s Michael Thomas when you need him? Lesson #1: Never tell a telemarketer that you are recording the conversation for training purposes. This “Freedom Estate” as they are so called have now phoned me four days in a row. I like to think that they sit around the call center and dare one another to phone me. I guess I could ditch this video and pretend that it never happened but I think that it’s important to record each and every part of this amazing adventure… maybe this call is the calm before the storm. Who ever thought a telemarketer would have the audacity to hang up on me in under five minutes!

Surefire Ways To Find A Cheap Cruise!

Today, taking a cheap cruise doesn’t mean having to do without certain luxuries associated with cruise ship travel. In fact, these days, the term cheap basically means getting all the optional extras at a bargain price.

The good news for prospective cruise travellers is these bargain holiday deals are happening all the time and if you follow some basic guidelines, then your next high seas adventure could be just around the corner.

Finding Cheap Cruise Deals

If you are working on a budget then consider travelling during off peak times. These are the high demand periods when cruise lines don’t have any problems filling their passenger quotas and are less inclined to “slash” prices. Summer is a season when people are very much in holiday mode and more likely to want to travel. Concentrating on periods such as the end of summer and beginning of fall will more likely get you a cheap cruise deal that fits well within your budget.

It’s these times when companies are keen to fill their cabins so they offer incentives such as lower prices. The good news for you is that despite the cheaper fares, the quality of the cruise holiday is in no way diminished.

Planning Your Cheap Cruise

Some careful planning is required when looking for a cheap cruise. Obviously, consulting a travel expert is the natural inclination for most people and always a good option. However, more experienced travellers have used the internet to great effect in recent years.

There are no shortage of cruising websites to sift through online, all with the aim of providing you with as much information as possible to make an informed decision. One of the best features online is the alert features offered by some of these sites. Look for newsletter offers; you sign up for a regular newsletter at varying intervals and receive the latest bargain offers. Some sites even provide price alert features which means you enter details such as how much you want to spend, where you want to go and when you want to travel.

Cruise Line Updates

Cruise companies also offer services such as regular updates. As with third party websites, companies also provide information services which will keep you updated about impending offers. The point to remember is cruise lines in most cases will do their best, within reason, to get you on their ships because setting off from port with many empty cabins simply doesn’t make good business sense.

There are more cruise ships on the water today therefore more cabins to fill. Bigger ships and more competition for passengers among companies means better deals for you. Just remember, create a budget, sign up for price alerts, avoid high season travel and be flexible with your travel schedule and you’ll be surprised at the number of cheap cruise deals you’ll have to choose from.

Throughout the year, many of us do exactly the same thing…we start saving for our annual summer holidays. This year seems to be different, the savings account has been dipped into and the credit cards would appear to be maxed out!

With the credit crunch affecting the majority of us, finding enough spare cash to book a holiday with can prove very hard, if not impossible. I usually have my holidays booked at least 9 months prior to travel, it gives me time to get saving, book my holidays in at work and leaves plenty of time to look forward to it. At present, I am panicking because I have no holidays booked, nothing to look forward to and a bank balance which is not looking promising.

People seem to think that because we are in a recession, tour operators will be dropping the prices of all holidays because they have to, this is not the case. Tour operators pay for the hotels in Euros, therefore lose out on the terrible exchange rate as much as we do. Hotels are not dropping their prices therefore the tour operators cannot drop theirs. Flights still use the same amount of fuel, charge the same compulsory taxes and have not become cheaper to fly overnight. The pilot and crew still need paying as do the airport and ground staff….unfortunately holiday reps don’t work for free either!

When looking ahead to book a holiday for 2010, the prices look very expensive. I have searched a number of operators but cannot find anything around the price I paid last year, or even close to my budget. I think that tour operators are keeping their prices high in the hope that things will turn around and people will start booking. I cannot see the end to the current recession in the foreseeable future, therefore will not be able to consider booking my next summer holiday anytime soon. When looking at late holiday deals for this year, the prices are fantastic! There are so many great late deals available, whether that’s because the tour operators have so much stock left and are trying to get rid of it, or whether that’s just the norm for this time of year…I’m not quite sure but I’m very impressed with some of the prices.

After pricing up late deals holidays for this year and comparing them to the same time of year next year, it got me thinking! My plan is to choose the destination I want to go to, check which dates the flights are leaving, book my holidays in at work (leaving a few days flexibility either side) then wait up until 3-4 weeks before I plan to travel, and start checking the prices. The best way to find late holiday deals is by waiting and waiting. Search the net and phone through to call centres, as soon as you see the price that you’re happy with, book it! You must be realistic, however, you don’t need to settle for anything less than what you’re looking for.

Some of us may be looking at going away this Christmas. The winter weather does not appeal to many people and the chance of waking up on Christmas day with the sun beating through the blinds and having cocktails by the pool is too tempting for some. If you like the sound of that then you need to start looking for some deals to ensure you get the best of them.

Many people choose to go away over Christmas and New Year as it means they can get away from the cold and blustery weather that is associated with the average British winter. All inclusive holidays are very popular amongst many people as it means they do not have to worry about their food and drink once they have arrived at their destination.

Choosing an all inclusive holiday is a great idea as we sometimes lose track of how much we are spending on holiday, especially food and drink. Drink, whether that be soft or alcoholic, is something we tend to have more of when we are abroad as the weather is often stifling and we become dehydrated very quickly. The food we choose to eat too is often different as we may treat ourselves whilst on holiday. This all adds up and can end up costing us a considerable amount extra and without us realising it we are heading to the cash machine to withdraw more money.

Going all inclusive means you pay for your holiday and upon your arrival you will receive an item (normally a wristband) to show that you are on an all inclusive package deal. All your food and drink will be paid for as long as you dine within the hotel premises. If you want to eat out then this will naturally cost you extra.

Destination favourites such as the South of Spain and France are likely to be amongst the favourites again this year. These destinations are only a short flight from the UK’s many airports which means you spend less time travelling and more time enjoying your break. As with many things nowadays you can find the best all inclusive holiday deals online where you can start planning your holiday this Christmas and instead of having a Christmas that is cold and rainy, you can have one that is warm, has clear blue skies and enjoy cocktails on the beach.

If you are looking for all inclusive holidays then look no further as there are some great deals online. Such deals on holidays to lanzarote make any winter break unforgettable.
